14 Weeks / 15 Weeks

OMG – this week has been a crazy one in so many ways!

We started off with our second midwife appointment on Tuesday, with one of the four members of my midwife team named Jen (who was lovely). Within 5 minutes of starting the appointment, Jen told us that Babe is growing like a weed, and they’ve actually bumped up our due date by nearly a week!!! So the new date to mark on your calendar is Wednesday October 4th!! TOO. FUNNY. If I wasn’t 100% convinced that it is a boy just yet… I sure am now!!! Lol!!!

This news means that week 14 was cut seriously short, because our new “switch” day of the week is Wednesday, so I’m now officially 15 weeks and 1 day!

We talked in our appointment a bit about exercise during pregnancy, she gave me a bit of advice (but mostly the standard “listen to your body”), we got our requisition for our gender reveal ultrasound (WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAAAAAAT?!) to be booked in just 3 short weeks (OMG), and I can officially go and do the second part of my IPS bloodwork as well anytime now. Crazy. Daisy. This whole fast-forwarding weeks thing is throwing my planning brain for a serious loop.

Jen also told us that the first IPS ultrasound that we did looked good, and that the screen for chromosome abnormalities came back negative so far. That was an unexpected piece of great news to get today, and a huge relief (although I don’t know that I will fully breathe easy until we know for sure). She did mention that one of my ovaries looked to have a teeny tiny cyst formation on it, but that this is completely normal in pregnancy, and that she wasn’t worried about it at all. Just something for them to look for on my next ultrasound.

The other super exciting part of our midwife appointment was that we got to listen to babe’s heartbeat for the first time. Jen found it immediately with the Doppler, and it was so insane to me to imagine babe nestled away in there, little heart just beating away at 155 bpm. His heartbeat sounded like a quick little rabbit, while mine sounded like a big, slow, clunking elephant – LOL.

I’ve had a bit of a tough week in the gym this week, and I think my days of teaching CXWORX are officially over for this pregnancy. Everything felt really good during class on Tuesday, but when I went to push out of a plank and sit back, I got a bit of sharp pain low in my pelvis that just felt uncomfortable and pinchy. Also, after Attack, I had a bit of a dizzy spell, and had to sit down right on the floor outside the studio to collect my thoughts and get myself together.

I don’t think that it was a huge deal, and it’s all been well resolved by now, but my belly has been a bit achey and bloated this week, and I haven’t been tolerating food very well. I just think that the two classes on Tuesday is a bit too much, and CX is the first program to go this time around. I don’t need to push myself too hard; it just isn’t worth it.

SO, as I mentioned, I’ve just been generally a bit nauseous / uncomfortable / bloated feeling for the past two days, but I finally seem to be doing better today. Still not tolerating food overly well (I.e. I feel pretty sick when I eat too much), but in true Sara fashion, I’m still pounding it back like nobody’s business anyways!

Cravings have been non-existent this week, I’ve just been eating to eat, and because I know that I need to.

I’m still feeling super chubby, but not looking pregnant yet (but arguably starting to look a bit rounder in my belly?!)

So all in all, a bit of a whirlwind week with some ups, some downs and lots of in betweens. Probably similar to how this whole miraculous motherhood journey will be 🙂 mother nature has a funny way of preparing us for these things, doesn’t she?

On another note – the Leafs start their first playoff round tonight against the Washington Capitals, and I’m not sure it’s good for babe to have so much tension and stress in his life!!! Lol!!! The poor thing already had to endure the super stressful game last weekend to clinch the playoff spot!!!

My two hopes for this long weekend (heading into Easter):

  1. That babe settles down in there and continues to grow happily and healthily (ahead of schedule?!)
  2. That the Leafs win over the Caps

That isn’t too much to ask, is it? 😉

Happy Easter to all!
